Joint development work between Takata-Petri of Aschaffenburg, Germany, and DuPont has resulted in the launch of a new grade of DuPont™ Hytrel® RS, the industry’s first renewably-sourced thermoplastic elastomer for use in airbag systems.

Sorona® for Automotive Carpet
When the design objective is durable, beautiful, fast-drying, stain-resistant automotive carpet, the more sustainable alternative to petroleum-based products is DuPont™ Sorona®. High-performance Sorona® fiber contains 37% renewably-sourced, plant-based content by weight and consumes less non-renewable energy during manufacture than nylon 6.

DuPont™ Sorona® has stain resistance engineered directly into the fiber so automotive fabric resists staining for the life of the textile. Durable, quick-drying, easy-to-clean, high-performance Sorona® also contains 37% renewably-sourced material by weight.
