The move to higher, multi-speed automatic transmissions to reduce emissions and improve fuel economy invites opportunities to reduce weight and frictional loss.
More sophisticated transmissions systems face aggressive fluids and increased weight from additional components. DuPont high-performance thermoplastics, elastomers, and specialty polymers can be used in automotive transmission and driveline components and systems to take out unneeded weight and also reduce frictional loss while extending the durability and reliability of mechanical components.
