Acapela®: Application Timing for Soybeans
Acapela® is the proven standard for disease control in soybeans
DuPont™ Acapela® is a broad-spectrum fungicide designed to provide reliable protection against Northern corn leaf blight in corn and sclerotinia rot (white mould)1, Asian soybean rust, frogeye leafspot and septoria brown spot in soybeans.
With 4 movement properties, Acapela® is a one-of-a-kind fungicide that quickly and efficiently surrounds, penetrates and protects the leaf and stem. Acapela® is also rapidly absorbed, putting these 4 unique movement properties to work fast, and allows you to spray when field conditions are challenging. The result is superior disease control for greener, healthier crops and higher yield potential.
Fungicide Applications in Soybeans
Protect against white mould: Early applications starting at R1-R2
White mould is an increasing concern for Canadian soybean growers. If conditions are conducive to infection, yield losses can reach as high as 50%. It can also hurt seed quality and reduce the crop’s standability.
- Time the first application to the emergence of the first flowers in the R1-R2 stage of growth.
- For white mould, apply Acapela® at the high rate of 0.35L/ac (27 acres/jug)
- For optimum results, follow up with a second application 7–10 days later at the R2-R3 stage of growth.
Protect against leaf diseases: Later applications at R2-R3
Leaf diseases in soybeans can significantly reduce soybean yield. The R2-R3 timing in soybeans is optimum for controlling diseases such as Frogeye leafspot (Cercospora), Septoria brown spot and Asian soybean rust.
Apply Acapela® at 0.24 L/acre (40 acres/jug) for control of leaf diseases at the R2-R3 stage of crop development. R2 stage is defined as “Full Bloom” and the R3 stage is defined as “Beginning Pod” (see diagram).
Optimizing fungicide applications in soybeans
To achieve optimum coverage and results ensure that the spray penetrates deeply into the soybean canopy to adequately cover the flowers and the places on the plant where the senescing petals might adhere or become lodged.
