Nomex® Electrical Insulation: Magnet Wire Forming & ACDS

During the process of manufacturing transformers, it is not unusual for wooden mallets and paddles to be used to shape conductors.  The high mechanical properties of Nomex®, enables the magnet wire to perform to expectations even after such rough manipulation. A simple test such as the one demonstrated here, can be used to compare the electrical strength of conductors that have been gently shaped to conductors that have been hammered. In the case of Nomex®, the results are the same. Non-DuPont aramid insulation products cannot make this claim.
