Nomex® Electrical Insulation: Tensile Strip Bend

After heat aged samples have cooled to room temperature in the oven room, they are removed from the aging pouch and placed in envelopes that are marked with the temperature, aging time, and sample identification number. The samples will remain in the envelopes for 24 hours to equilibrate to the controlled lab conditions for tensile testing. These samples have been heat aged for 256 days at 155 degrees Celsius. A simple bend of the samples shows how the laminate that contains Nomex® remains flexible while a competing laminate snaps in two.
