DuPont has 14 global R&D Centers where labs perform vital research across all businesses and collaborate with partners, governments, and local communities.
The DuPont Thetford Mines manufacturing facility is located in the city of Thetford Mines, Quebec. It is one of the two DuPont manufacturing facilities located in Quebec and the only DuPont manufacturing facility in the world to produce Corian® quartz.
Built in 1991 to produce Granirex marble slabs and tiles, the site was the first in the world to use quartz in its finished products or manufacturing process (one or the other). DuPont acquired Granirex Inc in 1998.
Today the site manufacturers a wide range of DuPont Corian® Quartz that are part of the Corian® Design Master Brand. Throughout its history, Thetford site has supported countless non-profit organizations in the Thetford Mines area through charitable giving and employee volunteerism.

DuPont Thetford Mines site was recognized for innovation by the Committee on Standards, Equity, Health and Safety at Work (CNESST) at their regional ceremony in 2019. The site addressed an ergonomic and tripping hazard issue at the finishing line loader.…..find out more

Thetford site reached over 3 years OSHA free and 6 years without lost time injury.
Corian® Quartz products manufactured at the Thetford site are being supplied across North America for healthcare, public service, and multi-family projects.
Examples of recent projects that used Corian® Quartz surfaces, include Ottawa Inner City Health Consumption and Treatment Services, Northumberland Hospice Care Centre, and activity room renovations at Tall Pines Long-Term Facility.
Over the years, DuPont has supported numerous non-profit organizations in communities across Quebec through financial support, employee volunteerism and memberships.
An essential part of our mission is to connect with people and drive progress through community outreach, education partnerships, and a strong culture of volunteerism. This strategic approach to community impact is aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and enables us to meet local needs while empowering employees in the communities where they work and live.
Last year DuPont Canada donated $ 30,000 (USD) to Habitat for Humanity International to support its Homes, Communities, Hope + You campaign in Canada. The funding was provided to Habitat for Humanity affiliates in Quebec and Kingston Limestone regions.
This donation enabled DuPont to directly support deserving families to secure much needed safe and affordable housing and show our gratitude to the Quebec and Kingston communities for their long-standing support for DuPont.
This is the second year that DuPont Canada has collaborated with Habitat for Humanity. In 2019, DuPont provided a financial donation and its employees volunteered at build days for a two-bedroom, single-story energy-efficient home in Sherbrooke, Quebec and a semi-detached dwelling in Kingston, Ontario for local area families.
DuPont Canada’s support is part of the Global company’s overall partnership with Habitat for Humanity International.
DuPont Thetford Mines site has had a longstanding commitment to supporting United Way Centraide campaigns, dating back 20 years. In 2016, the site won the Centraide ‘’Coup de coeur’’ award that recognizes organizations and/or their employees who demonstrate exception work during the fundraising campaign.
Recently, the site again participated in a United Way Centraide fundraising campaign to ensure that people in the local community who were struggling got the help they so desperately needed. Our generous employee donations were matched by DuPont, dollar-for-dollar. The donations collected as part of the campaign were provided to the United Way affiliate in the Chaudière-Appalaches region.
Recently, we welcomed our first co-op student from the University of Ottawa. The first-year chemical engineering student worked with the Thetford site team on projects focused on improving cost and productivity.
We also sponsor the Chemical Engineering Students Society (CheSS). The sponsorship is focused on openingup future co-op assignmentopportunities for students at all of our Canadian sites.
