DuPont And US GHS (HazCom 2012) General Statement

Over the 200 and more years of the company’s existence, DuPont has demonstrated our long tradition of regulatory compliance excellence and leadership in product stewardship.

We continue along this tradition to adopt the United Nations mandate, the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling (GHS) in order to harmonize hazard communications on a global scale.

The document includes classification criteria for substances and mixtures according to their physical, health, and environmental hazards, as well as standard requirements for labeling and safety data sheets (SDS). It is meant to create a more standardized and comprehensive approach to global classification and hazard communication.

The United States Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) adopted their version of this international mandate into law in May 2012, which is known as the new Hazard Communication Standard (HazCom 2012 or US GHS). US GHS takes all hazard classes into account except for the environmental hazards. Required compliance with US GHS became effective June 1, 2015.
