Automotive applications take top honors for advances in technology

Two innovative automotive applications developed by DuPont have been selected as winners at the R&D100 Awards 2018, one of the industry’s leading recognition event for the global R&D community which spotlights the top 100 technology advancements of the past year. The 2018 winning applications are:

BETAFORCE™ 9050M composite bonding adhesive for automotive mass production and multi-material substrates. Developed with the team at Audi, this adhesive enables significant weight reduction and improves torsional stiffness of the vehicle, resulting in better fuel efficiency and improved CO2 reduction, safety, handling and comfort. Additionally, the product provides good handling strength and has other manufacturing advantages that support improved automobile assembly productivity.

“These innovative applications address global market needs for more efficient, lightweight, and electrical vehicles”, said Scott Collick, Global Research and Development Director, DuPont Transportation & Advanced Polymers. “We are particularly proud to see our product teams from both legacy Dow (Betaforce™) and DuPont (Zyel®) awarded this year. This again demonstrates how strongly positioned our T&AP business is, to transform industries through material sciences.”
