Providing clean water and medical supplies to Vietnam communities
When the COVID-19 pandemic began to spike in Vietnam during the summer of 2020, our Water Solutions business partnered with Vietnamese corporation the Tan A Dai Thanh Group to help. Together, we sent 150 water purifiers with FilmTec RO filters to five dedicated COVID-19 treatment hospitals in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. DuPont Safety also donated 500 Tyvek® clean suits to help protect the doctors who were dealing exclusively with patients battling the virus.
Several months later, in October, central Vietnam faced five storms and two tropical cyclones, besieging the area with heavy rains, floods and landslides. More than 90,000 people were displaced, and more than 130,000 houses flooded.
In a display of international cooperation and humanitarianism, the Australian Water Association partnered with DuPont and a number of charities and water companies in Australia and Vietnam, as well as the Vietnam Government, to deploy water treatment systems into the areas hardest hit by the storms.
We also contributed SkyJuice SkyHydrant™ ultrafiltration units that were deployed in schools and community buildings that were most in need. Each system filtered 10,000 liters a day of clean water during the disaster relief efforts and will be in place to provide assistance during future storm and flood seasons.
